In celebration of her 18th and his 78th birthday this year, Emily Spink and her Grand-dad, Alan May, are doing a skydive for charity and seek your support.
The charity involved is Optimum Kenya Trust of which Alan is a trustee. It is dedicated to providing bursaries for children In Kenya to benefit from secondary education and beyond.
We have been lucky enough ourselves to receive a good education but not everyone is. We firmly believe that education provides the key which opens the door from poverty to the independent achievement sought by us all.
In Kenya, primary education is free. Secondary education is not. Consequently there are many bright young people, willing and capable, whose families cannot afford to pay for their chidren to complete their secondary education at school.
Without doing so, the future is bleak. They have no hope of going to university and job opportunities are diminished.
Optimum Kenya Trust is there to help. It provides busaries to cover the fees for boys to attend one of the top performing schools in Kenya.
It is a boarding school which used to be called The Duke of York, where Alan went to school, and is now known as Lenana.
Many boys have benefitted from charitable donations received by Optimum Kenya Trust and from fund raising events such as the Skydive that we are about to do. Please help.
You can be sure that 100% of any contributions from you will go towards the education of those in need and we thank you, most sincerely, for your generosity.
Best wishes from
Emily and Alan
